Who is Qigong Me

Hi my name is Sandy Kerry and I am a Medical Qigong Therapist with the International Institute of Medical Qigong working towards my Masters in Medical Qigong. I have a background in the study of Tao philosophy within the Taiwanese community where I have practiced sincerely and diligently since 1999.

I have always had a strong interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine and it was through my Tao practice that led me to where I am today. It was where I was originally introduced to Medical Qigong and Acupuncture.

My education and experience along with my strong and sincere desire to help others and give back to my friends and family, my community, the world and the universe is what I feel not only sets me apart but gives me the energy required to make a difference in the work that I do.

What is Medical Qigong

Qigong is traditional Chinese medicine and a form of energy cultivation and practice that has it's roots based in China dating back well over 5,000 years. Using the breath and intention the practice is meant to align the body and mind through exercise, meditation, and energy healing techniques which aid spiritual practice and awareness improving health and longevity.


The National Qigong Association describes qigong as follows: Qigong practices can be classified as martial, medical, or spiritual. All styles have three things in common: they all involve a posture, (whether moving or stationary), breathing techniques, and mental focus. Some practices increase the Qi; others circulate it, use it to cleanse and heal the body, store it, or emit Qi to help heal others. Practices vary from the soft internal styles such as Tai Chi; to the external, vigorous styles such as Kung Fu. However, the slow gentle movements of most Qigong forms can be easily adapted, even for the physically challenged and can be practiced by all age groups.

Like any other system of health care, Qigong is not a panacea, but it is certainly a highly effective health care practice. Many health care professionals recommend Qigong as an important form of alternative complementary medicine.

Qigong creates an awareness of and influences dimensions of our being that are not part of traditional exercise programs. Most exercises do not involve the meridian system used in acupuncture nor do they emphasize the importance of adding mind intent and breathing techniques to physical movements. When these dimensions are added, the benefits of exercise increase exponentially.

The gentle, rhythmic movements of Qigong reduce stress, build stamina, increase vitality, and enhance the immune system. It has also been found to improve cardiovascular, respiratory, circulatory, lymphatic and digestive functions.

Those who maintain a consistent practice of Qigong find that it helps one regain a youthful vitality, maintain health even into old age and helps speed recovery from illness. Western scientific research confirms that Qigong reduces hypertension and the incidence of falling in the aged population. One of the more important long-term effects is that Qigong reestablishes the body/mind/soul connection.


Sandy offers private or group exercise classes, healings and meditations.

All services can be arranged in your home, Sandy's home or at an outside location such as a park or a centre, whichever is your preference.

All exercises, healings and meditations assist with movement of energy that is being stored and pooled in areas of the body which cause blockages, illness and eventually disease.

Qigong focuses on the 6 main yin organs which are the heart, pericardium, lungs, liver, kidneys and spleen; the six yang organs which are the large and small intestines, the urinary bladder and the bladder, the stomach and the san-jiao and the six extraordinary yang organs which are the brain, uterus, marrow, bones, gall bladder and blood vessels.

What a healing session looks like and what it includes

There would first be a discussion regarding what it is you're looking to gain from the treatment and if there are any contraindications that would prevent Sandy from continuing with certain methods at that time and also if there are any other issues she needs to be aware of.

Treatments focus on a variety of issues such as insomnia, joint and muscle pain, stress and nervous tension, any disease such as cancer, dementia, multiple sclerosis to chronic issues caused by hormones. There is no limit to what qigong energy healings can address.

This discussion can range from 5 minutes to 30 minutes and at that time, you would lay on the massage table fully clothed and Sandy would proceed to first purge any negative energies that have built up through the day; diagnose by using energy sensory techniques to locate any areas in the body that need to be addressed; tonify the organs, channels and meridians throughout the body in order to remove excess toxic pathogens and heat or to add energy to specific areas where needed and then regulate the energy in the body beginning from the feet and working up to the head.


The full treatment would take approximately 1.5 hours including the intial intake discussion prior to treatment. Once the healing has been completed it will leave you feeling relaxed and invigorated all at the same time.
